A developer environment gives you a space to try out Power Platform tools and improve your skills. It’s free, doesn’t expire, and you can access and try premium features such as AI Builder, Dataverse, premium connectors, build model driven apps and Power Pages. By default, other users won’t have access to what you have built in this environment, so it’s a good option for learning and testing things out.

You can sign up for up to 3 developer environments using your work account (provided your organisation hasn’t blocked you from creating it!).

How to sign up for a developer environment

Go to Power Platform admin center (microsoft.com) and sign in with your work account. Click on Environments and select +New.

You should see a message saying that the environment is preparing.

Leave it for about 5 minutes, then your environment is ready to use! You’ll see your environment in the Power Platform tools. Make sure to select the environment before you start building.
